Is it even possible to say goodbye to paper in the art room? Join us with your iPad and as we explore how to replace the paper sketchbook entirely. This workshop aims to show you how the iPad can significantly improve your workflow in the art classroom.

It is inevitable that we create a lot of art content using physical tools and materials. Nowadays, however, when it comes to documenting the artistic process, many curriculums are beginning to move toward digitally submitting their work. Creating experiments and annotating in a paper sketchbook is a very natural process, as students can document their thoughts immediately. This process becomes a hassle when the students are required to multitask between their physical experiments with materials and the computer -- not to mention you still have to go back, upload images of the experiments, and compile it all together. The problem with using desktop programs such as Powerpoint is that they limit you to taking too many steps and are far too basic. Programs like Adobe’s Photoshop cost money and even simple tasks require a substantial learning curve. Simply uploading images takes time that could be better used in the classroom. My aim is to help students find the least amount of steps necessary to complete the basic tasks needed to maximize their work time in the classroom. In this workshop I will show you how to: - Transform the sketchbook into a digital sketchbook using the iPad. - Applications that helps improves workflow in the process of the design cycle, this will encourage students to reflect and document their art making process with more efficiency. - Methods to mark student's digital sketchbook from the iPad. - Use your iPad for educational purposes outside of the classroom.

Note: You will need bring your own iPad to this session.
